The Registration & Compliance Operations (RCO) organization is responsible for making Amazon the safest and most trusted place on Earth by protecting the innocent and deterring the 'ill-intentioned'. Protecting the interests of the end users is our top priority, balancing being compliant and giving a great customer experience. The Registration and Compliance Global Process Leader will lead global teams of program managers (30-40 headcount) that support an operations team of over 3000 headcount to define and deliver on programs of work to improve the customer/seller experience at onboarding, reduce risk through implementation of new fraud and compliance controls, support new business growth, and provide a best in class employee experience for all project and operations employees involved.
For this role, we are looking for an exceptional leader with strong leadership, analytical, managerial, interpersonal, and project management skills. This leader will be responsible for a team of Global Process Owners across Amazon’s Registration and Compliance functions. This role will develop goals and drive results with cross-functional teams across global program & business owners, product and tech teams. This individual will be responsible for working closely with global program & business owners, product and tech teams to design, implement and execute strategies to deliver on the department’s continuous improvement and expansion goals. The Global Process Leader will be responsible for building a team of deep functional subject matter experts in each of the six functional areas that Registration and Compliance Operations support.
Working with different teams including Operations, Compliance and Registration Program, Quality, Training, Capacity Planning, Analytics, and Technology, this leader will be responsible for identifying and delivering with their team process improvement initiatives focused on delivering to improved customer experience and risk remediation goals, as well as building a culture of continuous process improvement within their team. As a Global Process leader, the individual will be encouraging a culture of innovation and experimentation at every level of the organization. This leader should also be viewed as change leader, building effective strategies and mechanisms to lead their teams through changes and influence stakeholder groups.
This position requires a strong blend of process design, program management and people management skills with the ability to conduct in-depth analyses, champion strategic ideas/opportunities to execution, identify strategic opportunities and hire and build a program management team. The position is global in scope and requires a high level of interaction with their teams and stakeholders located in North America, Europe and Asia.
Key job responsibilities
· Responsible for setting the vision, direction and execution of all key deliverables of Amazon’s Registration and Compliance Operations process management functions.
· Develop long-term department strategies and significantly influence the cross-company project development and delivery processes and standards.
· Contribute to the overall strategic goals through thought leadership, collaboration and personal contributions.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels and are capable of writing and owning large, complex documents.
· Raise the customer experience bar by optimizing risk-based controls and removing unnecessary friction.
· Demonstrated ability to build a culture of accountability, innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement.
· Hire, develop and lead a culturally diverse team of program managers, focused on employee success, growth, and development.
· Promote a culture of risk and compliance, proactively engaging with on-site partner teams to drive higher quality investigations and reinforce risk and compliance concepts.
· Use high judgment and subject matter expertise to quickly assess and offer risk-based solutions to difficult business issues.
· Demonstrable experience delivering strong operational performance, excellent project management skills and appropriate technical aptitude.
· Holds a high bar of standards for their team to write clear requirements to tech and product teams, drive change management through to delivery, and ensure all requirements have been implemented or risks documented and accepted by cross-functional leaders.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of 12+ years of people management, process design, and program management leadership experience, including four years in a senior management role in a fast-paced operating environment.
· 7-10 years of experience in payments, e-commerce or banking focused on regulatory compliance, fraud risk management, operational risk management, or other related fields.
· Previous experience leading and coaching program management teams to high levels of performance.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to translate complex issues for consumption by technical and non-technical audiences at all levels (including Board/VP level).
· Previous experience aligning with cross-organization teams to develop and drive goals against customer experience improvements and risk mitigation, particularly in ambiguous and fast paced environments.
· Previous experience of creating and contributing to strategic planning processes.
· Strong ability to source and analyze data to drive business strategies and decisions.
· Demonstrated ability to challenge the status-quo and champion best-in-class solutions and problem-solving across cross-organizational teams.
· Bachelors Degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Certification in compliance related area, such as CAMS, CRCM, or CRP (or willingness/ability to obtain).
· Advanced certificated like Six Sigma and/or PMP/PRINCE2 (or equivalent) preferred.
· Direct experience with Anti-Money Laundering compliance (including Suspicious Activity Monitoring, Know Your Customer, Sanctions and/or Denied Party Screening) and/or registration and customer onboarding processes.
· Track record of implementing scalable compliance solutions (technology, procedures, processes, etc.) in a regulated environment.
